News / Changes are a commin'!
« on: March 23, 2011, 07:55:44 PM »
I don't know about you, but I have been slammed with work. As much as I want to make some fun little website, I just don't have the time for it anymore. As I have been wanting to get back into the web development scene, I looked here first and saw a lot of stupid crap. Picture archive? Why? You have Google don't you? Anyways, I am working on some ideas for a site revamp to keep this place interesting. The changes will come as soon as I have time. Knowing myself as well as I do, these changes may take some time. However, if you wan to see changes soon, send me money.  ;)

I never thought it would come to this. I just removed the latest spam posts. All from one user using multiple IPs. Guess this guy had some hijacked hosts. Well because of him alone the following IPs are forever banned from my network. #IN #IR #BR #BR #AR #BG #SE #EG #BR #ID #ID #AL US #Iowa US #MY #SA #SA #CZ #MD #IR #BD #JP #CA #IR #BG #PL #KW #GB #IQ #FR

So, if anyone knows who violaroyd ( is. Let that person know I will not put up with their crap. Have a good day everybody!

I want to say I'm sorry for the HIGH amount of spam that has hit this forum in the last few days. I don't take spam lightly. If you spam I will ban your entire IP range! I simply won't tolerate it. I have changed the rules of obtaining membership. Now I must approve you. If I receive any posts that resemble spam I will report it to your ISP or the proper authorities. As stated before, I will not tolerate spam.

News / SSHT v1.3.1 is out
« on: February 10, 2010, 07:37:06 PM »
Several bug fixes, nothing else. The file is up on At the time of this writing I was unable to download (as a test obviously) the archive. If you want to download and sourceforge isn't working please let me know. Thanks, enjoy.

News / SSHT v1.3 Released Today!
« on: November 20, 2009, 10:30:52 PM »
I did it! I fixed the user problem... well assuming all Linux distros use the /etc/passwd file the same. Don't worry. I'm not stealing passwords. Those are in /etc/shadow. I simply check the passwd file to see where your home directory is and go from there. I also stream lined the code a bit. Nothing big. I hope to make some cool adjustments in the near future. We shall see what happens.

News / SSHT v1.2.3 is out!
« on: October 15, 2009, 06:57:32 PM »
Goto to download.

Note: This version fixes one bug and it can not be run as root. I'm kinda pissed off at SourceForge right now so I'm not going to go into depth on why or how I changed the program. If you need to run to run ssht as root please get version 1.2.2. If the version you download give you an error please let me know. I may start hosting the files myself. Thank you.

News / Still working on it
« on: May 28, 2009, 09:17:43 PM »
I'm still working on the new project... actually, I haven't written a line of code in like 2 months.  I got a few new books that I just can't seem to put down, and with starting school it's going to be hard to get anything done.

Also, I have found some problems with SSHT, I don't know if it's just my computer acting funny or what, but now I have a ton of duplicate ssht.conf files all over my hd and I had to change that file in my user's directory to owned by root to keep it from being overwritten.  Therefore, starting very soon (because it's an annoyance to me) I'm going to rewrite it so that every users .list and .conf files are started in /etc/ssht/  The directory will have to be created as globally writable, but each user will get their own file that only they can read and write to.  This way only you (assuming your using a box that has multiple users) can read and write those files (except for root of course).  There will also (once again, to help keep files from being changed by mistake) I will write in a bit of code to change your files from being changed by mistake and will only be changed when a change must be made (maybe even have a password be required... maybe).  I know this sounds complicated and I'm half asleep while writing this so I hope it makes sense.  I'm off to bed now, check back later for what I hope will be SSHT 2.0!

SSHT / Something weird with ssht v1.2.2
« on: May 05, 2009, 08:36:00 PM »
I just tried logging into my server and I got permission denied on my .conf file!  I checked it and all values had been set to default.  the interesting thing is that it still showed my password hint in the correct color.  On top of that I'm having issues running commands under expert mode now.  On top of that it (for some reason) wants to keep killing my .conf file and it rewrite the defaults!  It wasn't doing this earlier today, but I can't seem to find what's caused the problem!  Crap!

News / New Project under way
« on: January 08, 2009, 09:42:24 PM »
I have started a new project.  It's a web based application to keep track of your contacts (both personal and business) and well as anything you might loan to your friends (like a DVD).  It's going to take some time to write it because I'm trying to design it to function (somewhat) like this forum software.  Meaning you can use custom themes or even just edit the css for your own look.

There for, if you have an interest in this software and would like to help develop it, please post in this thread expressing your interest and skills.  I need people who can work with the following languages and or software:
Apache with SSL (the software MUST be able to work with and without SSL)

That's all I can think of right now.  One thing I have not planned very well for are picture uploads (pics must be renamed to something random so nothing gets overwritten), and storing CSS in MySQL so each user can custom it without having to run their own version...

That being said, I plan on purchasing a domain name for this where everyone in the world can use it for free or even download the source and run it on their own web server.

I'm starting to ramble so I'm hitting post.  ^_^

I think the headline says it all.

I have finished coding and much testing for SSHT v1.2.  I hope you all like it, and hopefully I didn't miss anything.  If you have any problems please let me know.

EDIT:  I made a booboo, I have fixed the error and now you can download v1.2.1  ^_^

SSHT / Re: Version 1.2 coming soon... for real this time
« on: December 10, 2008, 06:25:13 PM »
OK, I'm done writing MOST of the code, I still want an error catcher for if a host key changes, but I'm unsure of how to do that, maybe I'll put it in v1.3 (if I ever get around to it).  I'm still following my originally scheduled deadline of December 21st. So if I can't get that error catcher written by then, well I guess you will be without it.

The hard part for me is writing the how2s and user guides.  I'm not very good at them, but because I'm the only developer on this project I suppose I better get my shit together and get it written.  Also, I will update my ssht page on with new info and screen shots before I put the new software up on sourceforge.

That's all for now... I need a break.

I will NOT tolerate spam!  I have just banned a large list of IPs because of it.

I made a little error in my forum permissions and any user could post in the admin section.  Unfortunately my rss feed doesn't pull from that area so the spam went unnoticed for quite some time.

Let me reiterate! NO SPAM! I will delete your user, ban your IP and add you to me list of bad people.  That's all I have to say for now.

Fix applied and all is well... Problem solved... lets go home.   :)

SSHT / Version 1.2 coming soon... for real this time
« on: October 29, 2008, 09:44:27 PM »
I've been working on SSHT v1.2, I've added one feature already, I also plan on adding quite a few more including an 'expert' mode!  Because of the changes that will be made there will be some changes made where as I will have to write an upgrade script for anyone using version 1.1 or older.  For example, for anyone who doesn't realize this, there is a file called ssht.conf (it's in a nice hidden directory on your user's root directory)  That's going to change to ssht.list, .conf will be for storing feature information, and a new one called expert.list.  Fun stuff huh.  I can't wait until I can get around to writing the entire damn thing in C++, it will be faster, easier, and only have 1 config file... I hope.  Well that's all for now.  Good Night!

Just an update, I'm working on the color codes and parser right now. Next will come an error catcher!  Then I'm going to check everything to help ensure that if you type in something wrong it will realize there is a problem... maybe, depends on how I feel.
